After more than 20 successful years, the Thurnheer-Bloch family is handing over the popular Hotel Restaurant Metropol into new hands. The family business Kramer takes over the management of the hotel and the two restaurants in the heart of the city of St. Gallen.
Host with heart and soul
Brigitte and Rico Bloch ran the business with a lot of joy and passion from 2000 to 2010 and then handed it over to their daughter Karin, who runs the city hotel with enthusiasm to this day. Thanks to their great commitment and creativity, combined with investments by the owner of the Schützengarten brewery, they made it a jewel in a prominent location on St. Gallen Bahnhofplatz.
A year ago, Karin Thurnherr-Bloch wanted to spend more time with her young family. "The decision was not an easy one for me, because I am a host with heart and soul and the Metropol with my team and loyal guests gives me a lot of pleasure". It was important for the Bloch family as well as for Schützengarten to tackle the succession plan at an early stage. There was great interest in the successor, as it is a traditional establishment. In the course of the very important succession plan, it became clear that the Kramer family, who ran the Romantik Hotel Europe in Zurich for 20 years until 2019, is the ideal new partner. Christian Kramer, patron of the family business, says: "I fell in love with the traditional house."
All employees will be taken on
The Kramer family takes over the whole team from the Thurnherr-Bloch family and continues the business with the current concept without interruption. The handover is scheduled for May 1st, 2021. Karin Thurnherr-Bloch will continue to work part-time with the restaurant. The new director will be Chiara Rossi from St. Gallen, who has an excellent education and extensive experience. Most recently she worked in hotel and event management in a well-known company in Interlaken. Peter Schefer, Head of Real Estate at the Schützengarten Brewery, says: "We are also very pleased that a future-oriented solution with great expertise has been found for all parties and thus the successful continuation of operations is ensured."
